Drum brakes were introduced in 1902, and for the majority of the 1900s were the most popular brake installed in cars. Advancements in disc brake technology, however, meant they started to replaced drum brakes in the 1960s and 1970s, and now most front wheel brakes are disc brakes.
Because modern rotors and distributor caps are plastic, they will deteriorate with age. If these parts are showing signs of wear, the engine may misfire, so it’s important to have them replaced on the recommended schedule.

While you can certainly use water to fill your radiator in a pinch, you're going to want to drain it and replace it with coolant as soon as possible. This is because water will eventually cause corrosion that can damage your vehicle's cooling system.
