“My mom once said something that really stayed with me. She said "God has given you everything that I didn't have". Well, now that I'm a mother myself, I really think she was onto something .
One of the things I wanted most when I was younger, was a sister. God didnt leave me empty handed. She gave me people in my life who made me forget all about the longing I had for a sister. But She seems to have remembered. For, years later, she gave my daughters one another.
One of the most joyful parts of motherhood, for me, is witnessing their bond. They're best friends and most formidable enemies. They call each other out on wrong doings and willfully protect one another from being scolded. One knows exactly what makes the other tick and the other knows exactly what's tocking around in her sister's head. And in all of this, I'm left in awe. Those are all the reasons I had once wanted a sister.

I grew up celebrating Raksha Bandhan with my two brothers, and following suit, for the last two years, the girls tied rakhis for their cousin brother. But my eyes were recently opened to sister rakhis - afterall, who better to promise to love and protect, than the sister you were born with. So this will be the first of, what I hope to be, many years that will tie rakhis to one another and celebrate the incredible bond they share.”

This makes me emotional on so many levels. Thank you for your recreations & tagging me in them - here’s are just a few but all of them made me smile. You all are a consistent reminder to me to keep going & keep pushing for change. 🧡 To all the girls out there who are feeling any type of duality in their life, I’ve been there. Know that you’ll figure it out and that you are enough. You are capable of making anything happen for yourself. Own who you are & go for it. We all have a little Wonder Woman in us 😉.
