The wait is over. Meet the new Louisiana Reproductive Freedom Organization ready to fight for abortion access in Louisiana.

After months of research, listening, and working alongside the people already on the ground, Project 50 is doing something new: building our own organization in Louisiana to fill the gap and fight for reproductive freedom across the state.

Leading the work: Andrea Dubé, a Louisiana political strategist and reproductive rights advocate with more than 20 years of campaign experience, joining as Executive Director.

Louisiana Reproductive Freedom Organization exists to build political and electoral power at the local level so that every Louisianan has the right to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions.

Why Louisiana? Because the need here is among the most urgent in the country.

Since June 2022, Louisiana has enforced a near-total abortion ban at every stage of pregnancy, one of the most restrictive laws in the nation. There are no abortion clinics operating in the state. Patients face mandatory waiting periods, and in 2024 Louisiana classified abortion medications as controlled substances.

73% of Louisiana voters think a patient should be able to get an abortion if a doctor says it's necessary to protect their health.

In spring 2025, we studied states that had both banned abortion and blocked citizens from securing that right through a ballot initiative. Louisiana was one of them. Since then, we've spent months researching, listening, and talking with stakeholders and the organizations already fighting here. What we found is a real gap that needs to be filled.

We invest in and grow state-based organizations, partnering with the people already doing the work on the ground. It's a model pioneered by Personal PAC in Illinois: lay the groundwork, back what wins, and replicate it state by state. Strong foundations and steady progress are how lasting, nationwide change gets built.
