Umami from scratch

Two layers of orange zest scented chiffon sponges brushed with spiced whiskey simple syrup then sandwiched with a whiskey cherry preserve in between. Finished with a mascarpone-whipped cream frosting spiked with angostura bitters and topped with orange peel fresh cherries soaked in old fashioned cocktail.
