One of my favorite days in 2025 was spending a weekend with and listening to stories from her experiences as a mambabatok. It was a surreal experience, and every moment gave me chills.

As a Filipino immigrant and someone who is part of the American diaspora, learning more about our culture can be incredibly challenging. The books I’ve read don’t fully capture the authenticity of the knowledge I’ve been seeking.

My goal is to continue helping other Filipinos on their journeys of reflection and reconnection with their kababayan communities, and to help revitalize a culture that was nearly erased by colonization.

Thank you again, for the opportunity to hear your stories and for sharing your knowledge. I’m forever grateful for this experience, and I can’t wait to connect again in the future.
