Studio Keating

Besides being very difficult to photograph due to its large size (36 x 36 inches), this painting I'm just finishing up is also a bit of a departure from my recent work because it is clearly representational. However, it is all part of my continuing exploration of paint, color temperature, brightness versus darkness, and contrasting line work. I've included the second photo so you can see the surface up close.

I'm so excited! Yesterday I was awarded "Best in Show" at the Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists group show 'Later Impressions'. It's running through January 5, 2025 at the Chicago Cultural Center on Michigan Ave. Stop by and check it out you are downtown. There are multiple exhibition spaces, lots of art to see and it's free admission.

Some small mixed media works on canvas. "Groundwork," and "Substrate," both 8 x 10 inches. In the first one I've sewn three rusty nails onto the canvas using thin brass wire... They will continue to rust.
