Mark your calendars and turn out on June 6th at 1pm! The US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), Healthcare Workers for Palestine (HCW4P), and Codepink are calling on supporters across the Midwest to protest the American Medical Association (AMA) at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. This demonstration coincides with the meeting of the AMA Board of Trustees and the House of Delegates. 

The AMA has an obligation to defend and call for the immediate, unconditional release of Palestinian medical personnel- including Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a pediatrician at Kamal Adwan Hospital, who remained on the front lines tending to families and saving lives despite the deliberate decimation of Gaza’s health care system. 

Israeli forces tore Dr. Abu Safiya from his family. Because he refused to leave the hospital and the families he was caring for, his 15-year-old son was killed by an Israeli drone strike at Kamal Adwan Hospital. The extraction of Dr. Abu Safiya and the systematic targeting of healthcare workers, the destruction of hospitals, and the severe blockade on medical supplies constitute a reproductive crisis. The violence of this genocidal state continues to devastate families and leave deep psychological scars that disrupt family structures for generations.

We demand that the AMA speak out against these injustices and call for the freedom of Dr. Abu Safiya and all detained Palestinian medical workers! We will not rest until the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide ends, and until Palestine is free!
