Netherworld Post Office is an independent art studio making cards and other postal art, revolving around monsters, mermaids, witches, ghosts, and other things that go "bump" in the night.

Proofing small cards, they should start going in orders about July or so (maybe a bit earlier, depending on when I get the print runs lined up).

This is, in the grand scheme of what I'm looking to build, INCREDIBLY small in detail. Just a card I can grab and check box and/or doodle when someone orders something and puts in a request.

And that's rather the point, though, isn't it?

To all of this? Constantly look for small ways to make things more fun, spookier, Halloween-ier

(annoyed Bob Belcher voice over: "atty.")

I have wanted to do this for ages and ages and ages and ages but never got around to it -- always crunching, always chasing, always having to worry about Something Else in the Studio that the back office now handles (thank you back office).

Onwards to the next thing.

Thank you for being here.

Photo I took years ago in Salem.

Skipping the email blast for one more week as I want to package together a ton of updates into one blast.

I'm finding myself in the space where I have a handful of things that are 95% ready, but they all rather depend on each other.

Photo above is one of those things. I'm adding a "photo essay blog post for enjoyment purposes what with the eyes and the spooky delights" template to the site, which will be used immediately for a collection of photos above pic came from, as well as prep for the ten billion photos I will be taking throughout this autumn.

Ah ha.
As a "here is an idea" for now

If you are of a camera persuasion, start taking pictuers now. Start practicing now. Before October comes.

Get ideas and angles and practice practice practice.

Hey wait this is a good idea for a Diner Academia blog post...

Talk to you all next Friday.

Okay. I get fountain pens now. There are cartridge versions, and “fill with ink bottle” versions, and converters. Right I am deep in the honeymoon era of ink bottles and the fuss that comes with it.

More to the point: this pen is heavier than normal (weights vary between manufacturers and lines), and working with two different inks (previous posts) is giving a lot of info on ink thickness and flow.

Ultimately: aside from the “it’s easier to draw fancy letters,” which I do love, it is just a much more pleasant writing method. It feels… softer? Writing is not physically taxing, but this feels… more gentle?

Pens and ink range significantly in pricing.

I am using a fairly budget pen ($38) and ink ($12). So, $50. Which is a lot for a pen, granted, but not terribly overwhelming. And — I have to repeat — extremely enjoyable to use. Admittedly extravagant, not horribly so. Why am I apologizing (laugh)

Blog post about fountain pens and journaling and mail in about a week. This week is devoted to making stickers and rubber stamp designs.
