New item under development!

We're developing a set of carbon fiber heel guards for the yamaha R3. We'll 3D print some prototypes to fit them up, and then make a set out of carbon once everything is locked!

Who likes carbon fiber parts? 🔥🔥🔥

Haven't had much to post about in the past few weeks, the shutdown has limited my access to tools that I need to make progress on the carbon chair. Once the stay at home order is over, we'll be able to pick up where we left off!

Until then, enjoy some potential new projects! This week, we've created a forged carbon wall hanger concept. This was less focused on design, more so testing out a new process that i'd like to familiarize myself with.

A sacrificial mold was cut from acrylic, covered with aluminum tape, and hot glued together. Partall paste was appplied to the mold to help release the casting while de-molding. Carbon strands were then cut up into small sections and mixed with epoxy to create a carbon fiber paste. The paste was pushed into the mold and left to cure. 24 hours later we de-molded it. Edges were filed down, and another layer of epoxy was applied for this concept. If this project gets developed further, we would need to mold it properly and set in hardware with the casting.

What do you think, would you want to hang your coats on these hooks?

Not much progress on other projects at the moment, I needed to focus a bit on re-organizing some spaces.

I've had this wire shelf for a while and couldnt put much on it without things falling between the wires. A few little slabs of plywood and some poly and we've got a pleasant, quick solution!

Now I can put ALL of the things on it, noice.

Good news! The chair is crazy strong and actually feels really good to sit in, considering that the conact surfaces have no crown (because bent plywood base limitations).

Once we upholster the , it will become even more comfy to sit in!

The shell will now be scanned. Afterwards, we will modify the concept cad data to fit the scanned data. Once the frame is fabricated and the shell is upholstered, all we need to do is assemble it!
