Deep Hollow Farm

Deep Hollow Farm is one acre's worth of fields tucked into the rolling hills of a 54-acre wooded hollow. Since 2012, we've been growing fresh vegetables and herbs using ecologically-friendly methods (we are applying for organic certification in Spring 2017!). We've also work hard to remove invasive species and restore the wetlands that wind through the property. Our fresh produce (plus pestos, sau

ces, and relishes) are available through our 21-week CSA, by visiting us at the Chester Sunday Market and Parmelee Market in Killingworth, or on-site at 46 Deep Hollow Road! We also have lumber available for purchase: cut, milled and dried onsite. We are members of CT NOFA (Northeast Organic Farmer’s Association) and have signed the farmer’s pledge to continue to provide sustainably raised food for the local community. We’re also members of the CT Farm Bureau. In the near future we also hope to add small barnyard animals: fowl and ruminants, to provide locally raised organic eggs and meat. Other areas of the site are ideal for an apiary, orchard, tree farm, vineyard, nursery plants and a mushroom farm - all in due time. Meet the Team:
Andrew Drabkin and Brian Hughes are the owners. Both are Yale graduates with a passion for the outdoors and both are serious foodies! Andrew has spent his life gardening with family, friends and for hire. He is president of the board of the Edgerton Park Conservancy in New Haven, CT, where he volunteers with ongoing restoration efforts of the historic, public park. Rebecca Roberts is the farm manager. She has a love of tiny farms, and is passionate about growing fresh food with the least amount of waste and the most amount of community! She joins Deep Hollow Farm after many years researching aquatic ecology and soil science, and many years growing food from Iowa to Sweden. Alexis Wilcox is our former farm manager and current all-around-gem! She has owned a Composting, Gardening, and Landscaping business since 2009 and has been growing vegetables for over ten years. She’s an active Advanced Master Gardener and Master Composter, through the University of CT, and taught at Common Ground High School for 12 years. She volunteers regularly at the Master Gardener office in North Haven, at Common Ground High School and New Haven Academy, and as a youth rock climbing coach. Dana Rozanski is also our former farm manager and current all-around-gem! has an earth science degree and a penchant for perfection. She has her Master Composter certification from University of CT and was raised in her grandmother’s and her mother’s flower gardens. Minerva, Maggie, Shusha, Gracie, Grizwold, Layla, Sophie Sundae, and Shea-Shea are among the dogs-about-the-farm, one or more of them are usually available to chase butterflies and sticks and tennis balls, despite the fact that none of them live here.

Hi my name is Leo! My nicknames include Little Leo Lad and Mr. Sweets 🤪 I am a big boy so you can tell I love to eat and I am looking forward to enjoying tons of veggies 🍅 when I'm old enough. I can't wait to grow up on a farm and spend all my time outside getting dirty! ☀️ I love going on walks and practicing my new found skill of smiling at my parents. I hate diaper changes and sleeping through the night! 🤗 I am also not happy with The Patriots this year 🤨

Hi! My name is Christine! 👋I am so excited to start this new chapter in our lives at Deep Hollow Farm! I've worked in farming and horticulture for 10 years and feel strongly called to growing food as an act of public service. I first became interested in agriculture during my time at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. I then jumped into farming wholeheartedly, working on farms all over the country! Most of my experience is in large scale organic orchards and I have managed orchards from 100 acres to 7 acres. From Pennsylvania to New York to Colorado and back to New York, I've had a blast gaining knowledge and experience in growing food and beekeeping.🐝 I've spent a lot of time on a ladder in the trees 🌳🍎🍑 and I am excited to get my feet on the ground and my hands in the dirt and start growing some vegetables! 🥬🌶🥕

I am also a certified doula. I have recently found my passion for supporting and educating women throughout their perinatal period. In April 2019 our daughter Ida was born still. My experience opened my eyes to the needs of women before, during, and after childbirth.🤰🏼I don't want anyone to feel alone or that they don't have a voice in their childbirth experience. I believe all women deserve compassionate and individualized education, care, and support. 🙏💛
