Therapy dogs are trained, affectionate pets that provide comfort, stress relief, and affection to people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and disaster areas. Unlike service dogs, they are not legally required to have public access, but they must be certified by organizations like the Alliance of Therapy Dogs or Pet Partners.
