We at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello are saddened by the passing of historian Gordon S. Wood, who died on Sunday at the age of 92. One of the foremost scholars of the American Revolution and the early Republic, Professor Wood helped generations of readers better understand the ideas, individuals, and events that shaped the nation’s founding.

We were honored by Professor Wood's contribution to the Fall/Winter issue of Monticello Magazine, continuing his lifelong commitment to advancing public understanding of American history. You can read the piece at bit.ly/3StX16L
