This spring, BNS Productions brings one of the most powerful plays of the American stage to Charlotte.
King Hedley II is the ninth play in August Wilson’s legendary American Century Cycle, set in Pittsburgh’s Hill District in 1985. It’s a story about survival, redemption, and the relentless hope of a man trying to build a future in a world determined to keep him in the past.
For me, directing this play is deeply personal. The Hill District feels like neighborhoods many of us grew up in. The struggles, the dreams, the resilience of the people—it’s all familiar. Wilson wrote truthfully about our communities, and that truth still echoes today.
This production features an incredible cast of Charlotte talent bringing these unforgettable characters to life.
