I broke my own rules yesterday.

I’m in a particularly busy season professionally with lots of demands on my time, and my husband has recently opened a brand new business at FYZICAL Therapy and Balance Centers - Concord, NC .

For me, Sundays are fiercely protected and typically reserved for time with my husband and REST. I’m on the GO, GO, GO most of the week and need to have one day set aside to recharge. Sundays are MY DAY.

But yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the day with three amazing friends whom I’ve known for more than 20 years. We’ve all had an intense few years with personal and professional challenges. But yesterday….we put it all aside.

🍳We brunched.
😂We laughed (A LOT).
🚊We rode the LYNX light rail for the first time.
📣We cheered (loudly).
🎉 We celebrated.
👂We listened to one another.
💖 We encouraged each other.

And it was simply the BEST way for me to recharge for this busy week ahead, because I’ve missed being with these women for far too many years. It all came together in a couple of quick text messages.

How do you recharge? What energizes you? What can you do this week to make recharging and renergizing a priority?

Four years ago tonight, I was settling into my couch at home after shutting down my corporate laptop and closing the door to my office on the 23rd floor in Uptown Charlotte for the very last time.

I was walking away from a global bank.
I was walking away from a 20+ year in financial services where I was fortunate enough to work with multinational companies in different countries. I learned from and led hundreds of talented professionals.

I walked TOWARDS a WIDE OPEN future that was undefined and unknown. I left on my own terms: no layoff, no restructure, and no hard feelings. It was my very own .

The road has not been easy, nor without hurdles, obstacles and setbacks, but tonight I am celebrating a GREAT day! Today I am celebrating the "portfolio career" I've built in which I'm wearing a few different hats in my professional life.

Today I worked hard for Social Venture Partners Charlotte where I attended a class, planned our last board meeting of 2022, and wrote my Director report.

Tonight I had a conversation with a potential new client for my Pivot Point Professionals, LLC coaching practice.

And over my lunch hour I did some on behalf of Beck, MBA's new FYZICAL Physical Therapy business, which will be opening in Concord, NC in Q1 2022.

There is no such thing as a straight line or a 'right path' in your career. You should be charting your OWN PATH.

💥Be Bold.
💪Be Brave.
🔥Be Driven.
🙏🏻Be Discerning.
😎Be YOU!

And celebrate 🎉, because YOU ARE of a life and a career that you enjoy, can succeed, and will fulfill you.

To all of you whose paths have crossed with mine, thank you for your encouragement and support. I wouldn't be here without you.

Who else is out there wearing multiple professional hats?
