e. We are a clearing-house of innovative scholarship focused on the role of design within our collective cultural, social, and physical landscapes. We are a Classroom:
Wer work to create opportunities to empower local communities through the sharing of knowledge, expertise and experiences and by providing faculty and students with new models for service-learning and interdisciplinary collaboration. We do so by building on the resources of the University through active engagements with the Charlotte Visualization Center, the Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Institute for Social Capital, and the Urban Institute. We work with partners to develop new models of community-based practices involving the arts and architecture as well as community planning and sustainable urban design. We build partnerships with public, not-for-profit, and private entities in order to improve the quality of life in the Carolinas and the Southeastern US.
