Happy Cinco de Mayo ✨🇲🇽

The most meaningful homes aren’t just designed… they’re experienced.

At CHDG, we spend our days designing and building—but what we’re really creating are the moments that happen inside those walls. The ones that feel effortless, lived-in, and deeply personal.

For me, that often starts in the kitchen.

Music playing, something simmering on the stove, people gathering without needing an invitation—that’s the kind of life we design for.

Cinco de Mayo felt like the perfect moment to share a glimpse into that side of our world. I put together a few of my favorite Mexican-inspired recipes; the ones we come back to year after year, the ones that turn an ordinary evening into something memorable.

Because a beautiful home should do more than look good….it should live well.

I didn’t just build this home.I drew it.

And the most important feature in it isn’t the kitchen or the fireplace.

It’s the light.

Before the foundation was poured, before the first wall was framed, this home began as pencil lines on paper — intentionally designed to capture natural light and bring nature inside.

Because the way a home meets the landscape around it should never be accidental.

From the beginning, the goal was to flood the home with light and connect it to the nature surrounding it.

So we lifted the ceilings.We opened the sight lines.And we added what we call clerestory windows — windows placed high on the walls that capture sunlight and carry it deep into the home.

They do something magical.

Light pours in from above.The trees outside become part of the architecture.And the entire home feels connected to the natural world around it.

Because when a home is designed well, you don’t just see nature…

you live in it.

Sometimes the most powerful design decision isn’t adding more…

it’s simply making space for light to enter.

And maybe that’s a little bit like faith too.

Trusting that when you open things up—the light will find its way in. ✨

Dreams come true in the kitchen. 🤍
