Charlotte’s tree canopy has long shaped the character of the Queen City. But as development accelerates across the region, what will it take to preserve Charlotte’s identity as the City of Trees?
Listen to the recent Building Connections podcast by the Urban Land Institute featuring our Executive Director, Bart Landess, as guest host along with guest speakers Eric Schmidhausler, Arborist Representative at Bartlett Tree Experts, and Thomas Haapapuro, Principal at Design Resource Group, as they discuss the future of Charlotte's urban forest.

As summer gets into full swing and folks start making plans for the Fourth of July, this is a great opportunity to find some time and get out on the water.
Around here, that can mean the Catawba River, South Fork River, Dutchman’s Creek or the Rocky River, all part of our regional blueway system. These blueways are some of the best places to paddle, fish, swim, and enjoy a break from the heat.
These rivers and streams are more than recreation corridors. As blueways, they connect communities while also providing habitat for wildlife and supplying clean water for millions of people. Every time we protect land along these waterways, we are keeping them healthy and ensuring they remain accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

It was great seeing everyone at Community Day this past Saturday at REI Charlotte for the free, drop-in community celebration supporting the Carolina Thread Trail and local non-profits supporting the outdoors.
We always love meeting people interested in providing access to nature and helping protect a healthy planet. From volunteering, learning, donating, or simply exploring the trails - everyone can help play a part.
A giant thank you to our friends from the Mountains-to-Sea Trail and Anne Springs Close Greenway for all your support!
