Six members of the team participated in the Tour de Frog Pond in Oakboro NC Saturday. This is a charity ride put on by Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with all proceeds going to Relay for Life (fundraising arm for the American Cancer Society).

Toby Thorpe, Jana Kennedy, David Hearne and many other church members and volunteers do an outstanding job organizing this event, marking the routes, providing rest stops, SAG support, t-shirts and lunch afterwards... ALL for $30. Oakboro is only 30 miles from Charlotte. 3 route options: 25, 40 and 62 miles. We did the 62-mile route and it had some great rollers with 3,500 feet of elevation. Very little traffic but certainly courteous drivers on rural roads.

We hope to see you and your riding mates in 2027. Please "like" their page at... https://www.facebook.com/events/pleasant-grove-baptist-church-oakboro/tour-de-frog-pond-bike-ride/1586094545990592/

Thank you for having us PGBC. We had an outstanding time. Cheers!

Teammates Scott Anderson, Samantha Bendt, Lisa Preslar and Chris & Lori Harkey are all participating in the annual Bike2DC Bike Ride. This ride is a fundraising event benefiting a foundation that was created for awareness of fallen police officers in the line of duty. This has been going on since 2007 and consists of officers, family and friends of officers and anyone interested in supporting the cause and riding bikes with friends.

The ride has a first day option only or the entire 5 days with a variety of paces and a sag wagon follows along with multiple police cruisers. They also provide catered lunches and dinners at local churches, fire stations and hotels. They start in Uptown Charlotte and end in Washington DC traversing through many rural areas with many supporters along the way. Although too late to ride in 2026, it is not too late to donate if you'd like. Also, you can start planning to participate in their 20th anniversary ride next year. It always starts on May 9th, always from CLT to DC and supported on the route and after the route with whatever each rider needs to get to the finish line.

You will also see that Samantha Bendt was one of the top fundraisers and two of our teams were two of the top teams donating Harkey/Preslar and Red Star Racing p/b CR Legal. Scott also donated with love and hard work because his lovely wife runs the entire event from start to finish and everything in between.
