Construction staking is an element of land surveying that ensures a project is built according to design by mapping out plans for a new building or construction site improvements. Rough grade staking maps out approximate locations and elevations of buildings, parking lots, and roads. Site layout surveys are much more comprehensive and involve mapping out the vertical and horizontal locations of specific elements such as underground utility lines.
