THIS SUNDAY | "My Shepherd" - Psalm 23
This is possibly the most famous passage in the Bible. It has comforted an untold many at funerals, on deathbeds, and in the darkest of nights. Countless have memorized it, and for good reason too, because few passages highlight the loving care of God as well as Davidโs twenty-third Psalm. And yet, when something is this familiar, we can easily take it for granted. But there is nothing that should be assumed in Psalm 23 because if we let it speak for itself, it presses us with the most important of questions: โWho is my shepherd?โ

5 WAYS TO ACTUALLY REMEMBER WHAT YOU BELIEVE
Most of us can't recall what we believe the moment we need it. You can't call to mind what you've never taken in. So here are five ways to hold God's Word, from easier to harder. Hear it, read it, study it, memorize it, and meditate on it.
Hearing is the entry point, and it's what you do at church. A sermon, a podcast, His Word being sung. It's passive, but it's real, and it counts.
Next comes reading, the view from 30,000 feet. Got a plan? Start with one book like John, then the whole New Testament. This is the big picture of what God's teaching.
Study takes you deeper. We do it together on Sunday, but can you on your own? Find an accountability group to dig into His Word with. That's how the surface becomes understanding.
Memorizing His Word makes it a defense you carry everywhere. David knew it in Psalm 119:11: "I have hidden Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You." What a combative way to keep from sin.
Meditation is the thumb that touches the other four. Chew on God's Word like a cow chewing the cud, drawing out every last bit. You meditate on what you hear, read, study, and memorize.
Do all five and you've got a firm grip on God's Word. Lean on one and you're only balancing it. Hold all five, and when you need what the prophets and Jesus taught, it's there.
These five are simple, as close as the fingers in your hand. Pick one today, then add another. When the moment comes and you need to remember what you believe, will it be there?

"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD!'" - Psalm 122:1
This is why God feels absent when you're waiting.

NEW SERIES THIS SUNDAY
A Study in Psalms: Encountering God in Every Season
The Morning Hymn - Psalm 63
This week weโre kicking off a new five-week summer series on the Psalms. We start with Psalm 63, Davidโs journal entry from the wilderness, written while he was hunted, exhausted, and far from safe. Yet he never asks God directly for rescue. Instead, he shows us what it looks like from the inside to seek God, and what happens to a soul that does.
