ππ― FROM THE HIVE
Bi-weekly Bee Grant recipient update:
Felton Grove High School's FFA recently celebrated a major milestone as the first school in their district to welcome live bee hives to campus.
With support from our partnership with Whole Foods Market Foundation, Bee Grant funding helped provide the FGHS Agriculture Department with essential beekeeping equipment, including hives, protective gear, and of course, bees.
Two thriving nucleus colonies, each containing five frames of bees and a queen, were recently installed into the schoolβs hives, giving students hands-on opportunities to explore pollinator science, agriculture, and environmental stewardship in real time.
What makes student access to live hives even more special is the collaboration happening across campus. Students are not only learning about bees, but also contributing directly to the success of the hives through agricultural and technical skills that connect classroom learning to the natural world.
