Jill Hooper shared these studio images from the making of the portrait “Hannah”.
Seen side-by-side, the early stage offers a rare look at the structure beneath the finished work, the head established first before the darker passages and flesh tones gather around it.
On view at Wentworth through April 2. The full collection is also available to explore online.

On a recent trip to Paris, Blake spent time with a handful of print dealers and small galleries, sifting through flat files and stacks of work in person. He picked slowly, reducing a world of options to a small group worth coming back to.
The result is a focused collection of postwar French prints. Still life, color play, figures, abstraction, and text. Flowers simplified. Bodies mid-gesture. Poems worked directly into the image. The common thread is a strong line and a visible hand.
