Capital High School

Capital High School is pleased to welcome Mr. Dillon Johnson as its new Director of Bands.

Originally from Winfield, West Virginia, Mr. Johnson is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree. During his time at WVU, he studied saxophone, conducting, and music education under many outstanding professors and educators. He also had the honor of serving as the first Young Conducting Intern with the Butler Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout his education, Mr. Johnson had the opportunity to work with students in numerous schools across Northern West Virginia, further strengthening his passion for music education.

As an educator, Mr. Johnson believes a successful band program is built on passion, discipline, and a strong sense of community. He is excited to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and the community while helping students grow as both musicians and individuals.

Mr. Johnson is honored to join the Capital High School family and looks forward to the opportunities ahead.
