As we prepare for Memorial Day, we remember that service doesn't end when someone comes home.
For some veterans, the hardest battles begin after their service; navigating housing,
healthcare, and a civilian world that can feel impossibly complex.
At The Navigation Center, 1 in 3 of our clients has worn a uniform. Every week, we walk alongside them not because it's easy, but because it matters.
This Memorial Day weekend, take a moment to check on a veteran in your life. Ask how they're doing. Really listen. And if they, or anyone you know, needs support navigating housing instability or services in the Lowcountry, we are here.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
At The Navigation Center, we know that mental health and housing stability are deeply connected. In fact, 35% of adults experiencing homelessness report mental health challenges and without coordinated support, those challenges can make it nearly impossible to find stability.
That's why TNC offers behavioral health services through our partnership with Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center right where our clients already are.
This month, we're sharing facts, stories, and resources to raise awareness. Because understanding is the first step toward change.

Today, we honor mothers.
The mothers who carry, comfort, encourage, protect, provide, pray, show up, and keep going.
And today, we are especially thinking of the mothers in our community who are carrying so much while working to build a stable future for their families.
Mothers navigating housing instability.
Mothers facing healthcare gaps.
Mothers managing transportation, appointments, school schedules, and next steps.
They are resilient.
They are resourceful.
They are courageous.
And they should not have to do it alone.
A Mother’s Day gift to The Navigation Center helps walk alongside a mother in the Lowcountry with care, coordination, and practical support as she takes her next step toward stability and hope.
Will you honor mothers today by helping a mother find her way forward?

“Being selected as a recipient of the Community Investment Fund is both an honor and an affirmation of the work happening every day at The Navigation Center,” said Marie Elana Roland, Founder and Executive Director.
This investment supports organizations working to strengthen health and well-being across Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties—and we are grateful to be included among this year’s recipients.

Growth matters — because people matter.
We are proud to celebrate Sandra Garlington, who has recently earned her Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) credential.
At The Navigation Center, Sandra shows up each day with compassion, perseverance, and a deep commitment to the families we serve. Her work is steady, relational, and rooted in advocacy.
This milestone is more than a credential — it reflects her dedication to doing this work well and continuing to grow for the sake of others.
In moments of crisis, Sandra is a calm, consistent presence.
And that presence changes everything.
