Summer learning is in full swing, and June is all about Energy & Sound at The Lit Chemist!

This month, students explore science they can hear, see, and feel as they investigate sound waves, vibration, and energy transfer through fun, hands-on activities.

🔊 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴
Through interactive experiments, students are:
- Exploring how sound is made through vibration
- Learning how energy moves from one object to another
- Observing how pitch and volume change

All lessons are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

🎶 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 & 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗯
Students use instruments and everyday materials to explore how sound travels. They test how vibrations change pitch and volume, turning learning into an exciting sensory experience.

Stretch a rubber band over a container and pluck it. Ask:
- What happens when the band is tighter or looser?
- How does this change the sound?

Charleston parents and youth organizers — meet The Lit Chemist.

The Lit Chemist is a Charleston-based STEM enrichment provider bringing hands-on science experiences to kids through mobile workshops, science parties, and community programming. Their public pages describe the brand as “Where Education Meets Imagination,” and their booking page calls it “an interactive mobile science experience where you are the scientist.”

From slime experiments to kid-friendly STEM activities, this is the kind of local resource more families, schools, camps, and youth groups should know about.

Charleston kids deserve cool learning experiences too.

Spring is here, and so is a season of discovery! This April, our Mobile Interactive Science Studio is exploring Life Cycles & Ecosystems through hands-on, engaging science experiences.

Students are learning how living things grow, change, and depend on their environments—building both scientific understanding and appreciation for the natural world.

🐛 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙄𝙨 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜
Through interactive activities and guided exploration, students are:
- Exploring plant and animal life cycles
- Learning how habitats support living things
- Understanding how changes in the environment affect survival
