Today’s lock topic is based on the importance of having a spare, or backup key. This particular customer had been looking for the keys to their beautiful 2022 Aprilia RS660 motorcycle for months. After what I can only imagine was countless hours spent looking for them, they finally decided to call us out to work our magic 🧙🏻‍♂️🔮 In an “all keys lost” scenario like this, we as locksmiths have to take a totally different approach to originating a new key. Which is why there’s such a costly difference between duplicating an existing key, and making a new one from scratch. So how do we do it? We have special tools that are designed to pick the ignition lock cylinder. Once picked, we can then use the same tool to decode what the cuts/depths are. Allowing us to cut a coded (factory spec) key. Did you know we are one of the very few locksmiths in the valley that specialize in motorcycle/atv keys?
