Yesterday, we were excited to relaunch Grow St. Bernard in partnership with the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce 🌱

This monthly workshop series is designed to equip entrepreneurs, small business owners, and aspiring business leaders with the knowledge, resources, and connections they need to succeed.

Our first session following the program's return focused on Starting a Business and featured special guest speaker Rachel Nunez with Home Bank. Through an engaging, hands-on workshop, attendees walked away with valuable resources on funding opportunities, practical advice for building a trusted team, and real-world examples of business do's and don'ts that can help set a new business up for success.

✂️ Last Week, SBEDF had the pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting for the re-opening of WOW American Eats Chalmette.

This re-opening represents more than the return of a familiar restaurant. It is the return of experienced local ownership with a long history of investing in St. Bernard Parish.

The ownership team originally operated the Chalmette WOW location from 2005 to 2014. After repurchasing the restaurant in 2025, they have brought the location back under familiar management after a short closure, continuing a legacy that spans more than two decades of doing business in St. Bernard Parish. The same owners also operate PJ's Coffee across the street and Savvy Sliders nearby, demonstrating their continued investment in the local economy.

Originally founded in Louisiana in 2001, WOW has grown into a nationally recognized brand while maintaining its Louisiana roots. Seeing experienced local operators reinvest in an established business is a reminder that economic development is not only about attracting new investment. It is also about supporting the entrepreneurs who continue to believe in and invest in our communities.
