In 2025, the Samuel Orrell Centennial Farm became a Sesquicentennial Farm, and this week, we finally got the sign. John's third great-grandfather, Samuel Orrell (b. 1833), father of Mary Alice Orrell (b. 1862), mother of James Harlan Crouch (b. 1895), father of Johnie Clarence Crouch (b. 1919), father of Bill Crouch, father of John Crouch, bought this farm in Johnson Township, south of Casey, in 1875. It has been continuously farmed by his descendants for 150 years now.

Also, another of John’s third great-grandfathers, William Daniel Crouch (b. 1798), father of James Crouch (b. 1860), husband to the aforementioned Mary Alice Orrell, began farming in Casey in 1838. We still farm some of his ground today, 187 years later.
