Wake County is the largest county in North Carolina — but our DA’s Office hasn’t kept up with our growth.

That means victims have to wait years rather than months for justice and repeat offenders stay on the street much longer.

Axios wrote about my plan to fix that and significantly expand the Wake County District Attorney’s Office to keep our community safe.

I enjoyed sitting down with Russ Bowen at CBS 17 to talk about the future of the Wake County District Attorney’s Office and the work ahead to strengthen public safety and accountability in Wake County.

Great to visit with North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson today.

We talked about how the Attorney General’s office and the Wake County DA’s office can partner to strengthen public safety, tackle the fentanyl crisis, and ensure accountability in our justice system.

Looking forward to working together for the people of Wake County.

I’m deeply grateful to the voters of Wake County for placing their trust in me. Tonight, they voted for change — a new direction focused on public safety, accountability, and restoring trust in our justice system.

As District Attorney, my top priority will be keeping Wake County families safe. We will focus our resources on prosecuting violent crime, supporting victims, and ensuring that those who threaten our community are held accountable.

The voters also made clear that political corruption has no place in North Carolina. No one is above the law — not elected officials, not powerful interests, not insiders. If you break the law in Wake County, you will be held accountable.

And let me be clear: I will not sit quietly while Donald Trump attacks the Constitution and undermines the rule of law. If federal officials violate the rights of the people of Wake County — or attempt to use our local justice system to advance an extreme political agenda — I will fight back with every ounce of my energy.

This is a serious moment that demands steady leadership and action. Beginning tomorrow, we will build a District Attorney’s office worthy of the trust the people have placed in us.

I’m honored to serve — and ready to get to work.
