CSUDH Dual Language Education

of critical consciousness as it is related to language, power, and education. We seek to empower ourselves and multilingual educators to lead and advocate for the transformation of schools into dynamic inclusive places where multilingual education is affirmed, validated, and supported. We develop dual language/multilingual educators as leaders who create opportunities for PK – 12 students to connect with their home cultures, identities, and languages through critical multilingual praxis. We encourage multilingual educators to engage PK – 12 families & communities from a ground-up, community-based outreach model to promote dual language/multilingual/bilingual education and ethnic studies as a human right. We promote an interdisciplinary approach with real world applications to teaching and learning that includes student-centered curriculum, hands-on learning, youth activism, and multimodal projects.
