Introducing Dr. Michael Lilyquist, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, elbow, and shoulder surgeries. With a passion for providing comprehensive care, Dr. Lilyquist is skilled in treating conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and shoulder replacements.

Dr. Lilyquist was the first to bring joint replacement surgery for thumb arthritis to Reno, offering faster recovery and a quicker return to activities. He is also one of the few surgeons in the US performing total elbow replacements and has expertise in total and reverse shoulder replacements. His non-surgical treatments include Xiaflex injections for Dupuytren's contracture and PRP injections for conditions like tennis elbow.

Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Lilyquist values building relationships with his patients to develop personalized care plans. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, teaching medical residents and physician assistant students.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Lilyquist is committed to volunteering and providing free medical care globally. He has performed surgeries in Ecuador and Honduras, furthering his dedication to improving healthcare access worldwide.

In his free time, Dr. Lilyquist enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Our hand therapy team at the Swift Hand Institute specializes in personalized rehabilitation, including creating custom-fabricated dynamic orthotics, like these crafted by Pamela Schoening, OTR/L, CHT. Shana Fearnley, PA-C is a native Nevadan with a long family history in the Reno/ Sparks area. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1997 before going on to complete her masters in the Physician Assistant Studies program at the Rosalind Franklin University of North Chicago, Illinois in 2000. Shana has worked in Orthopedics since her graduation and has used her experience and knowledge to provide excellent patient care in Reno and Sparks since 2002.

Swift Institute’s Hand Therapy Team provides specialized rehabilitation for upper extremity injuries caused by trauma or medical conditions.
