For three years, one question has come up more than any other: “When are you bringing back the Hobo Stew?” Guests asked at the table, in emails, even when we ran into them around town. Out of everything that has rotated off our menus, this dish has been the single most requested.

We understand why. Hobo Stew isn’t just hearty and comforting — it’s part of our story. Braised beef short rib, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and gnocchi come together in a rustic stew that’s peppery, filling, and perfect as the evenings turn cooler. The recipe has roots in the cooking of Italian workers near Hoboken who made simple, soulful meals with whatever they had on hand.

Hobo Stew is back on the menu at Vesuvio and Little Napoli starting tonight. Come hungry.
