What is Mid-Century Modern Architecture? Mid-Century is an ethos that evokes a feeling of connection and a sense of communion with nature. As a student of neuroarchitecture I would say it is a joyful architecture. When executed well it evokes a positive response.

Expansive rooflines, walls of glass, the originator of the open concept. Inside- outside relationships, no fear of color. Beautiful incorporation of wood and other natural species.

Other playful items that are personal to you can be added, terrazzo floors, Mid-Century interior furnishings and the like.

We create and remodel Mid- Century Modern homes in 2026. The idea of them is strong even in modern times. Originals can be brought up to our 2026 lifestyles quite thoughtfully and the philosophy can also inspire new builds that follow the same rules of good, strong architecture.

Attached is a master class in Mid-Century, my grandfather's Butterfly house in Carmel, designed by him as his personal residence in 1959. And a new build: Butterfly House East, inspired by the original and customized for an east coast waterfront property designed by our office in 2025. Cheers!
