A local example of fair housing work in action is research carried out by the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana released this year showing that homeownership rates overall in Indianapolis are decreasing, but large racial disparities in who is disproportionately impacted.

The report finds that “since 1970, white homeownership rates in Marion County have remained fairly level, decreasing by 0.3% from 1970 to 2019.
