AI is capable doing great things, but who owns the great things?

Who owns AI art? Copyright is a balancing act, and AI has thrown it off.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is obviously going to be a huge issue for humankind as well as intellectual property. We do not have time to create a new segment on AI before this class is over, but I did want to open things up to a discussion of AI, at least in terms of its impact on intellectual property. So, just a few things that will pop up in the future.



1. You can have AI generate a pretty logo. Can you trademark it? Was it a "work for hire"? Can you copyright it? Are you "the author"? How much do you have to change it to make it copyrightable? (Theatre D'Opera Spatial).

2. Do deceased or living people have federal or state rights to prevent the creators of AI from training the AI to "copy" their voices? If so, is the cause of action against the creator of the AI or the person who used it to have a person say or sing something he/she never said or sung?
