Kathy Engle is the creative talent behind Island Batik’s innovative batik designs. Kathy’s designs are inspired by the beauty of nature, from the colors of the aurora borealis to the patterns created by scales on a fish. She also oversees other fabric designers, helping them to plan, design, and launch each new collection.

The best way to beat the heat 😍
It's WAY too hot to be outside today, but lovely and cool in my sewing room. I got the process blocks for a "Polaris" workshop stitched as far as I can go before class. The design looks so different on a light background. I used lots of little pieces of Island Batik by Lumin Fabrics in the geese, and plan to quilt this with some shiny threads to add a bit of sparkle.
