Tip #9

Do I get a guarantee with that?

From the cars we drive to the clothes we wear to the paint on our walls, products have a warranty. But does your painting contractor?

Ask your contractor if they offer a warranty on their work and what it specifically covers. Some states set minimum requirements for labor warranties.

Most labor warranties will cover hitting a spot that was missed or touching an area up. Just because a contractor warranties their work, doesn’t mean they should be taken advantage of either. A professional will be glad to come back and resolve any issues you may be concerned with.

If it is something outside of what their labor warranty covers, like manufacturing issues with the paint, they may be able to be reimbursed by the paint company. Also, if it is an exterior job and your trees are scraping the house or your sprinklers are spraying the side of the house, a painting contractor cannot be held liable for a damaged paint job.

Be sure and be clear what the warranty covers. Sometimes it will pay off in the long run.

Weird Wednesday Fact

The average cow is 40% steak.
One surprising fun fact about red meat that is how much your average cattle can produce. If your beef weighs about 1,200 pounds and doesn’t hold any excess weight in muscle, it could give you up to about 44% edible beef, or about 460 pounds of meat.

Sign me up for that steak dinner!

Paint Tip Tuesday

Cutting in with a brush

This is typically the edge where to different colors meet, commonly the wall and ceiling. There are some basic guidelines when cutting in. Properly load your brush and paint into the edge. You never want to start painting right on your cut edge but work into it. This helps provide a straighter cleaner line. Keep following this edge, or line, until the paint begins to thin out. To keep a consistent line at you paint it is helpful to hold your breath or exhale to keep a steady hand.
