By Permmission only - No dog off leash & under owner's control at all times.
6/26/2026 - A wild rabbit chose to birth her babies in our hay barn. Very smart, because the hay is insulation and when the babies can ingest solid food there it is in their brithing area.
We put hay bales around their nursery, and kept the doors shut from predators.

While riding my horse, I noticed a friend's dog standing over something on the ground. On closer inspection, I saw the mother bunny lying still under the dog' gaze.

I quickly dismounted, warned off the dog and picked up the limp little creature. There was no blood, but the mother bunny was in shock and I took the to "All Creaures Emergency Vet" in Basalt.

Mother bunny had a broken spine.

The baby bunnies had just lost their mother, so I drove them to "PSS Wildlife Foundation" in Silt for their survival. https://www.psswf.org/

My heart is sorrowful. We saw the mother bunny daily. She was used to us and our horses. The father bunny is still here somewhere. Owners with dogs beware. Permission must be given for dogs to visit Rumble Ridge and none will be allowed off leash!

Thanks to our wonderful veterinarians and wildlife rescue specialists. Perhaps Rumble Ridge can re-home the babies, when they are ready for their outside experience.
