“Building our family began as a long journey. After battling breast cancer at age 24, and going on to have two miscarriages, we started our family through adoption & went on to have two additional biological sons. Now at age 38, we’re expecting our fourth son and could not be more blessed!
While I am healthy today, those life-saving treatments left me unable to breastfeed. While I can't physically produce milk, Third Strand and its amazing donors are stepping in to fill the gap. Not being able to breastfeed has created a void in my motherhood journey, but this donor milk helps fill that empty space. I am so grateful to this organization and the incredible donor moms for helping us welcome our newest baby boy with absolute peace of mind. “
This week, Third Strand shipped milk all the way to Minnesota to feed a baby. Third Strand, Milkify, and most importantly, our Donor Moms, fill in where life leaves a gap. The pure gratefulness from our Third Strand families cannot be described!
Third Strand provides safe, freeze-dried, donor milk, from screened donors, to healthy newborn babies that have lost a mother; to babies whose mothers are unable to breastfeed, due to cancer; and, to adopted newborns.
The overwhelming majority of the milk we distribute goes to babies whose mothers are unable to breastfeed because of cancer. Have you ever stopped to think about it…when a mom is diagnosed with cancer, the life-saving treatment usually means that she isn’t able to feed her own baby. That is a heavy emotional burden. We love being able to help carry that burden.
Thanks to the most amazing donor moms, hundreds of mothers have been able to give their nursing babies the same start to life as if cancer never had a say. Check out this story of one of our Third Strand families!
Third Strand currently has dozens of families asking for milk, and we have literally hundreds of donor moms offering more than enough milk to feed their babies…but it all takes money, and we desperately need your support to continue. We love updates! Third Strand Baby Kawaii is almost finished with Kindergarten! In 2019, we received this request from her momma:
“I am a 2 time breast cancer survivor. I had a double mastectomy. I want to give my baby the same start as my first. It has been really hard emotionally realizing that I can’t do it alone.”
Thanks to our amazing Donor Moms and supporters, Third Strand shipped a two-month supply of safe donor milk to Florida, so that she’d have the best start possible!
These smiles make everything worthwhile!
Third Strand is founded on a model of continuously paying it forward. We have been able to serve so many families through the years based on milk and money raised each time we feed a baby. The world said it was impossible…ten years later, we’re still shipping milk 😂.

It’s this guy’s birthday today! Jacob is one of our amazing board members, an incredible dad, and has the best beard out of anybody I know. It’s been incredible to watch him grow since the day we met. Help me wish him a Happy 21st Birthday 😉
