LETTER OF HIS HOLINESS POPE LEO XIV ON THE 250th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
"I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Americans on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This semiquincentennial marks that defining moment in the history of the United States of America, July 4, 1776, that gave enduring voice to the ideals of liberty, equality, the pursuit of happiness, justice and democratic self-government.
For two and a half centuries, generations of Americans have worked together to carry these principles forward — through sacrifice, service, innovation and civic participation. This anniversary stands as an invitation not only to celebrate the nation’s remarkable journey, but also to reflect upon the responsibilities that the sons and daughters of this country bear to one another, and to the generations who will inherit the nation that is being shaped today."

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸
Today we give thanks for the blessings of freedom, the gift of our nation, and all those who have sacrificed to protect the liberties we enjoy.
As we celebrate with family and friends, may we also pray for our country — that God will guide our leaders, strengthen our communities, and help each of us work for peace, justice, and the common good.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
— Psalm 33:12
Wishing our parish family a safe and joyful Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

The disciples panic as a storm overtakes their boat, while Jesus remains asleep. It’s a striking reminder that faith doesn’t spare us from hardship. Illness, grief, disappointment, and fear still find their way into our lives, and we may wonder, “Lord, do You not care?”
But Jesus was in the boat the whole time. His silence was not absence — His presence was their security.
When He calms the storm, He first asks, “Why are you terrified?” The real danger wasn’t the wind and waves, but the fear within them. Faith doesn’t promise a life without storms; it promises that Christ is greater than any storm we face.
Whatever waves are hitting our lives today, may we remember: Jesus is still in the boat with us. His presence gives us courage to face our storms with hope.

"Do to others whatever you would have them do to you." — Matthew 7:12
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that our faith is a precious gift meant to be shared with wisdom, humility, and love. Sometimes our strongest witness is not found in arguments, but in the way we live—with peace, kindness, and joy.
Jesus also calls us to walk the "narrow gate" by choosing compassion over selfishness, forgiveness over resentment, and faithfulness over convenience. Each act of love, no matter how small, brings us closer to Him and helps build His Kingdom here on earth.
May we have the courage today to treat others with the same mercy and kindness we hope to receive ourselves

Happy Father's Day!
Today we give thanks for all fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, stepfathers, and the many men who have guided us with love, wisdom, and faith.
We are grateful for the sacrifices they make, the example they set, and the ways they reflect God's care for His children.
As we celebrate Father's Day, let us keep all fathers in our prayers—those who are with us, those who have gone before us, and those who long to be fathers.
May God bless them with strength, joy, and peace, and may St. Joseph, faithful guardian of the Holy Family, inspire them in their vocation.
Happy Father's Day from all of us at St. Oscar Romero Parish! 💙
