Every December 1 we honor World AIDS Day, a day first observed in 1988 to honor those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses, as well as the millions of people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States and across the globe. ❤️
Misinformation, fear, and government neglect fueled an epidemic that has taken millions of lives around the world, including Morty Manford, gay rights activist and son of PFLAG founder Jeanne Manford.
Today, as we mourn our friends, family members, and peers whose lives were cut short by HIV/AIDS, we re-commit ourselves to supporting the fight to end this epidemic.

“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people—sometimes in the most brutal ways possible—it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.” —Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith
As PFLAG members and supporters—as human beings—it is imperative that we boldly, loudly, and publicly honor those we have lost to anti-trans violence and hate. Our trans loved ones deserve to thrive and be their authentic selves, not to be the victims, scapegoats, and targets of those with cruel political agendas. PFLAG will continue to fight for equal rights and access to medical care, and advocate side-by-side with our trans loved ones so that they are safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved in every aspect of their lives. 🏳️⚧️
Here are some actions you can take this Trans Day of Remembrance:
• Reach out to your local PFLAG chapter to find TDOR events in your area. (Find your chapter at pflag.org/find)
• Take action against trans violence, by joining Fighting For Our Pride. This grassroots, nationwide campaign focuses on advocacy at the state and local levels where the most harmful legislation against our trans loved ones is being passed. Join us this Sunday to fight for equality and address recent hate crimes in our community. Let's stop the hate by showing up loud and proud!
Bring your Progress Pride flags, Trans Pride flags, or any other Pride flag that represents our community! Signs are more than welcome to spread the word that spreading hate and committing acts of violence has no place here and will not be tolerated. We stand together,
