Today, we remember the five officers killed in the July 7, 2016, Dallas ambush.

The night started with a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas, where demonstrators chanted “Black Lives Matter” and “Hands up, don’t shoot” after two Black men were killed by police officers in Minnesota and Louisiana.

As many protesters were leaving the Dallas event, gunfire erupted. Four Dallas police officers and one DART officer were killed. Nine other officers and two civilians were injured.

We honor their service, their sacrifice and the families forever changed.
