Happy World Environment Day 2026! This year’s theme, Climate Action, highlights the many ways communities can grow sustainably and strengthen their local environments.

Solar energy plays an important role by supporting reliable, homegrown power, creating opportunities for land stewardship, and working alongside traditional agriculture. Projects like the proposed Buckheart Solar Project showcase how solar can deliver long-term benefits for both the environment and local communities.

Solar power helps keep Illinois farms alive 06/01/2026

Terry Rasmussen, owner of Jubilee Creek Farm in Princeville, Illinois, shares his perspective on the evolving challenges faced by farmers today.

With deep roots in soybean and corn farming, Terry discusses how new strategies, such as solar, are essential for survival.

He’s embracing innovative solutions like solar grazing to ensure the future of family farms. 🌱

In his view, solar energy isn't a threat, it's an opportunity! ☀️

One Way or Another, Most of Our Electricity Comes From Solar Power 05/29/2026

Electric power comes from various sources—coal, gas, wind—but they all trace back to the sun.

When coal burns, it releases energy stored by ancient plants through photosynthesis. Similarly, oil and natural gas originate from marine life that also utilized sunlight. Even hydroelectric and wind energy rely on solar-driven processes!

In essence, everything is powered by sunshine! 🌞 Energy transforms but never disappears; we’re far from running out!

One Way or Another, Most of Our Electricity Comes From Solar Power That’s good news, since the forecast is sunshine for the next 5 billion years.

In a First for the U.S., Renewables Generate More Power Than Natural Gas 05/12/2026

In March, renewables surpassed natural gas in U.S. power generation, marking a clean energy milestone.

Renewables (solar, wind, hydropower, bioenergy) and nuclear supplied over half of the electricity.

This record is due to increased wind and solar capacity alongside lower spring demand for heating and cooling. Fossil fuels produced their lowest output for March in 25 years!

How Illinois Agencies Can Lead in Transforming the Midwest Power Markets 05/04/2026

Illinois energy regulators are confronted with a significant challenge: by year's end, the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Illinois Power Agency (IPA), and the Illinois EPA must conduct a comprehensive analysis to address the state's impending resource adequacy shortfall. This includes initiating state-wide integrated resource planning and transmission planning for the first time.

This task occurs within a restructured energy market spanning two RTOs, while adhering to Illinois' carbon-free energy standard amidst substantial load growth.

To achieve the goals set for the state, and continue to be an industry leader, we must embrace solar energy.
