There are approximately 100 billion neurons in the human brain and your gut contains 500 million neurons, which are connected to your brain through nerves in your nervous system.

The vagus nerve is one of the biggest nerves connecting your gut and brain. It sends signals in both directions. Investigation suggests that the gut-brain axis might play a role in a lot of diseases including migraine.

In our last study 328 individuals chose their suspected triggers from a list of up to 38 - on average they selected 28 triggers. But we could prove that in reality, only an average of 2.2 triggers per individual were statistically associated with their increased risk of attacks.
