is often a technology that we look through instead of at. Yet it constantly mediates how we see the world around us.
student explored the visual technology of glass in architecture for his final project. Focusing on the Class of 1959 Chapel at HBS, Shaan captured the visual experience of the glass pyramid at different times of day, seasons, and angles.
For her final video project, student explored the theme of in 's chair design, "Spun," located in Cabot Library. By paralleling the chair with a top, Samantha explored the formal qualities of Spun through video, a chair made by rotational molding.

In Titus Kaphar's work, "Jaavon and the Unknown Gentleman" (2011), the operation of cutting becomes a historical intervention. By citing Ralph Earl's 18thc painting "Gentleman with a Negro Attendant" (slide 2), Kaphar shifts our attention to the historically marginal figure, not only returning agency through a name, but also providing a true portrait instead of a type. Commissioned as an intervention for their collection, you can see this work at the New Britain Museum of American Art (2011.56). This work will definitely be on my mind this coming week for the conference at ! @ New Britain Museum of American Art
