The library helped HDS celebrate Preston Williams’ birthday on Thursday by displaying some archival materials from his time with the Summer Leadership Institute! This program brought leaders from urban settings to Harvard for two weeks to work on community development projects and create action plans for their communities. Preston Williams founded the program and served as the director from 1998 to 2008. Happy birthday, Preston!

To commemorate Juneteenth, we invite you to explore our Jordan Neighborhood House photographs collection. Originally established as a Universalist mission in 1897 and later renamed for minister Jordan Fletcher Jordan, the Jordan Neighborhood House became a vital space—offering education, healthcare, and community support to African American residents in the area. View the full collection through the link in our bio.
