Jill A. Macoska, Ph.D. is the Director of the Center for Personalized Cancer Therapy, a Distinguished University Professor of Science and Mathematics, the Alton J. Brann Endowed Chair, and Professor of Biology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

She started working with MassBioEd's College to Career program through a chance meeting with MassBioEd staff outside the UMass Boston Chancellor's office in 2021.

"An idea exchange in the atrium of the Integrated Science Center led to several Life Science Career Expos that allowed interactions between hundreds of students and scores of Life Sciences career volunteers followed by dozens of students traveling to industry labs to gain first-hand knowledge of that working environment. Through these College to Career programs our students are much more aware of, and better preparing for, careers in the Life Science industry. I now incorporate career awareness into my student teaching and advising activities, and I love seeing the consequent 'eyes opening' and excited questioning that follow. I am so very grateful that MassBioEd and our industry supporters, like Takeda, want to help our students on this career journey, and so happy to be part of that process."
