Well, day one (Western day) of the Summer Color Classic is over. And what a great first day of our first under saddle breed show together.

APHA Green Western Pleasure: 4th X 4
APHA Novice Amateur Western Pleasure: 7th, 7th, 7th, 5th
APHA 3 yo Western Pleasure: 2nd X 4

While we didn't place in the top three very often I could not have been more proud of my boy. This was his first show since fair last year and he could not have been better behaved. There were new horses everywhere and so much to look at. He was the perfect gentleman and never so much as talked to any other horse. Even when they rode by close enough I could've reached out and given their rider a high five. He is still very green and we both have a lot to learn but he is making great progress.
Halter is tomorrow and then we have HUS and Eq on Sunday.

We are saddened by the news of Ardan's sire passing. He truly was an incredible horse and sire. I am so thankful that I have Ardan. He will pass on this incredible legacy.

With sadness in our hearts, we had to say goodbye to One Special Asset. He is grazing on greener pastures now, no longer in pain and will be laid to rest forever on our farm at Windmill Acres.. He gave us so much. He was the sweetest, most stoic stallion you could ever ask for. Even with the heartache that comes alog from losing such a "special" Horse, we are incredible grateful for the gift he gave us in his offspring. From world champions, to best friends, his babies tell the story of his greatness. Their quiet demeanor, curiosity, and gentle souls are so evidently inherited from their dad. His legacy will continue through generations to come. Thanks you for everyone who bred their mares to Leggs over the years. I look forward to seeing all your babies become what they were destined to be. Many thanks, also, to my mentors from day one, I couldn't have done this without you: Cheryl Miller, the breeder of this special boy; Charles Closser, his trainer; and too many others to even count, but a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this young stallion #19 on the sire list in his too short career. To the person there for Leggs in the end, Nikole Chaffin, thank you so much for pulling out all the stops and giving him a fighting chance. Thanks you to Twin Creek Farms and staff where he spent most of his life with Theresa Rorabaugh. For the prayers from so many of you, THANK YOU!!!! If you have a photo of his boys and girls , please share them here and continue to share.. His sons "One and Only Asset" and "Watch Me I'm Special" carry on the greatness he started. Thank you all again, so much. The whole OSA team appreciates you. "One Special Asset" will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
