If you love comfort meals that come together fast (and don’t break the bank), this one’s a keeper. Tender orzo, rich tomato sauce, fresh basil, and one pound of ground beef is all it takes to feed the whole family. It’s cozy, creamy, and perfect for cold evenings on the ranch.

1 pound ground beef
1 cup orzo pasta (we used 3 Farm Daughters Orzo!)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup heavy cream
1⁄4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS
Cook the orzo pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
Stir in the heavy cream and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
Add the cooked orzo and Parmesan cheese to the skillet, stirring until well combined.
Remove from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
