The Champlain College MakerLab is a place where people share tools (low and high-tech) to make almost anything. It's a work-space that encourages innovation in and outside of the classroom. People from across disciplines evolve ideas and collaborate on projects at the intersection of art, technology and entrepreneurship. The MakerLab is open to all Champlain students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Operation times and more details can be found online at makers.champlain.edu.

Last Monday, several members of the spirited EMC Technical Intern team met to take an exploratory dive into research literacy. All of those big words only mean that they learned how to utilize Champlain’s library database to its fullest extent by using keywords, searching broad terms, and learning which questions to ask.

The interns were led by several of Champlain’s wonderful librarians, including the Interim Library Director, Emily Crist, and the Head of Reference & Instruction, Susan Adkins. The interns learned how to do grounded research projects, with the theme of this exercise centered around “wearable technology,” such as smart watches.

At the end of the event, the interns had learned more about how to utilize vast resources how to do a broad research deep dive into topics to offer a well-rounded review of a topic. And, as you can see by some of those smiling faces and the white board doodles, had some fun.

Thanks to our Senior Technical Project Manager, Adam Walker, for snapping these photos.
